Why Choose

Untitled design (3).png

At ICAN Education, we believe every child deserves the confidence, support, and guidance to reach their full potential.

Families choose us because we combine high-quality teaching with a welcoming environment where learners feel motivated, encouraged, and valued.

A Positive Learning Environment

We know that children learn best when they feel safe, comfortable, and motivated.

Our centre promotes respect, positivity, and inclusivity. We celebrate progress at every stage and work closely with families to ensure students stay motivated and supported to overcome barriers throughout their learning journey.

Nurture Nest

Our ‘Nurture Nest’ provides a quiet retreat where pupils can take a moment to reset, build confidence, and feel supported during their learning journey.

With comfortable seating, calming colours, sensory-friendly resources, creative activities, and positive affirmations, this space encourages children to relax, communicate openly, and develop emotional resilience.

It is used to support pupils who may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, dysregulated, or simply in need of a quieter environment to refocus.

Parents often tell us that their children not only improve academically, but also become more confident, independent, and enthusiastic about school when they attend sessions with us.

Founder, ALNco and DSL

Christie Austin

"I am passionate about helping children develop confidence, resilience and a love of learning. " I am the Founder and Owner of ICAN Education, as well as the ALNCo and Safeguarding Lead. After seven years teaching within primary schools and Key Stage 3, I founded ICAN Education in February 2022 with the vision of creating a nurturing, inclusive learning environment where every child feels safe, supported and able to reach their full potential. I now have over nine years of experience working with children and young people across mainstream schools, private nurseries, alternative provisions and Pupil Referral Units (PRUs). I am passionate about helping children develop confidence, resilience and a love of learning. I have extensive experience supporting children with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), as well as those who require greater academic challenge. I have a particular passion for trauma-informed practice and believe that building positive relationships, understanding each child's individual needs, and creating a calm, supportive environment are the foundations for successful learning. I also believe that the best outcomes are achieved when parents and educators work together. I am passionate about supporting parents throughout their child's educational journey, building strong, trusting relationships through open communication and working in partnership to help every child flourish bothacademically and personally. When I'm not at ICAN, I love making memories with my little girl, Maia. In my very rare spare time, you'll usually find me enjoying a relaxing spa day or spending quality time with family and friends.

"Supporting children to become confident, enthusiastic readers is at the heart of my teaching." I’m an experienced primary school teacher with over 10 years of classroom experience, working with children across a wide range of ages and needs. I spent nine years teaching Reception and Year 1 before moving into tutoring, where I continue to support children through personalised, engaging learning. I’ve taught in both mainstream and boarding school settings, and these experiences have shaped my inclusive, adaptable approach to teaching. I specialise in early reading and phonics, having been an Early Reading and Phonics Lead for seven years. Supporting children to become confident, enthusiastic readers is something I’m truly passionate about. I have experience supporting children with dyslexia, using multi-sensory approaches to make learning accessible, engaging and confidence-building. Alongside tutoring, I run my own creative business designing lifelike crepe paper flowers and delivering workshops, which inspires me to bring creativity, hands-on learning and problem-solving into my sessions. I moved from Surrey to Wales in 2025 and, when I’m not tutoring, you’ll usually find me travelling and exploring somewhere new, or spending the weekend crafting and designing.
